About ADS
Architectural Design Studio was founded by S. Michael Ghorbanian in 1989. Mr. Ghorbanian has over 20 years of varying architectural experience. He has worked for several large firms as the lead architect and project manager on government, commercial and institutional projects. In 1989 he accepted a faculty position at the Northern Virginia Community College teaching and managing the Architecture and Engineering program. He also started a small architectural practice designing residential and light commercial projects. He believes design and production is a collaborative effort and for that, ADS does not bear any one’s name and is simply referred to as Architectural Design Studio.
ADS Services
ADS has worked on a variety of projects with different function. While our work has include several small light commercial, retail, and residential design/build projects, we are best known for our expertise in food service and hospitality facilities. We typically work on every aspect of the projects, from initial design concept to construction administration and at times even design-build.
Since for some of the projects we have played the role of secondary contractor to other prime government contractors, we feel that by priming some of these contracts we can not only provide a seamless and direct service to our clients but also at a lower overhead cost. At this juncture of our progression we have decided to pursue selected state and federal projects. To enhance our portfolio, ADS will have LEED certification as among the goals of our staff for every contact.
As a small firm we routinely team with various consulting professional to provide needed expertise and manpower to augment our capabilities. We assemble teams that will meet the clients and projects needs and compliments our abilities. Under such conditions we assign an in-house Architect or engineer as a laison to coordinate and communicate the project progression.
